Suck it and see

1. Suck it and see
You're not sure about this whole Ossians thing. What if you spend all that money and don't like it? Well, how would you like to read the first chapter for free? You can, here:

www.penguin.co.uk/tasters

...just click and a pdf of the first chapter is yours.

2. It's Festival Time
OK, it's not yet, but Doug Johnstone will be appearing at various book and music festivals over the next four months. Dates below. Some of these will be readings, some music, most of them probably a bit of both. There will be more dates to add soon.

10 May Word Festival Aberdeen (8pm, Cowdray Hall) - with King Creosote, Jackie Kay and Patience Agbabi
21 June Dundee Literary Festival (5pm, Borders) - line up tbc
17-20 July Latitude, Southwold - amazing line up, everyone from Sigur Ros to Irvine Welsh
1-3 August The Big Chill, Eastnor Castle Deer Park, Herefordshire - By all accounts a fantastic festival.
16 August Edinburgh Book Festival (8.30pm) - with Toby Litt

3. 'The Macpherson Tapes' by The Ossians OUT NOW!
Lost recordings by the infamous Scottish indie band now available to buy and cherish.

...more reviews soon. Also, you can now buy it from the Fence Records website. Get in fast though, believe it or not, we're running out of copies! I know, we can't believe it either.

4. Interviews and stuff and that
Two excellent interviews here:

...another to come in One Magazine (www.iamone.co.uk) soon too.

Also, recent reviews in Zoo, Time Out, The New Statesman, Rocksound and The Morning Star surely win some kind of award for most diverse readership. Surely?

Right, that'll do, eh? Normal Northern Alliance business will resume soon, so expect all to go quiet once we hunker down in the studio.
